Food
We embody the philosophy of “slow food.” Our plant-based menus feature an abundance of organic and seasonal ingredients, grown with care and free of harmful chemicals. In order to fuel your body with rich nutrients, we must first fuel the earth with the same careful intention. Nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory, and full of flavor, our culinary team thoughtfully incorporates enzyme-rich foods to support weight loss, detoxify the system, and improve overall health and well-being.
Our Approach
Meet and maintain your health goals with each nutritionally balanced bite.
Our cleansing and revitalizing diet balances protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and flavor with nutrient-dense ingredients to nourish your body and enhance detoxification during our active program.
What you’ll find on your plate: the finest organic fruits, vegetables, grains, pulses, legumes, and seeds. What we eliminate from your diet: alcohol, dairy, soy, processed sugars, diet sweeteners, and gluten.
During your time with us we encourage you to focus on how you feel while eating a whole-food, plant-based diet. You are always able to adjust and increase portions to support your intended results and we are able to accommodate most food allergies and dietary preferences.
OurIngredients
Allow nature to nourish you through organically grown food sent to our kitchen at its peak.
The menus at our luxury health retreats are crafted using fresh ingredients sourced from our certified organic garden (in Malibu) or local farms. It all begins with rich and healthy soil to ensure our harvest fuels you with maximum nutrients while eliminating harsh chemicals.
Acting as an endless source of inspiration, the fruits, vegetables, and herbs that shape our daily menu in Malibu are grown through a harmonious partnership between our Executive Chef and Master Gardener. As a Certified Regenerative Garden, our team prioritizes soil health and synthetic pesticide-free methods to yield crops that are not only more nutritious and flavorful but also contribute positively to the local ecosystem.
The Positive Impacts ofA Plant-Based Diet
Switching to a plant-based diet has been proven to significantly improve both personal health and the well-being of our environment.
Vegan diets, with less than 100g of meat per day, lead to 75% lower climate-heating emissions, water pollution, and land use compared to higher meat diets. This change can reduce wildlife destruction by 66% and cut water use by 54%. The global food system's impact on the environment is well-established, with agriculture responsible for 34% of global greenhouse gas emissions, 70% of freshwater use, and 78% of freshwater pollution. By adopting plant-based diets, or even incorporating more vegan options into our existing lifestyles, we can make a substantial positive impact on our dietary footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
CREATINGCommunity
At The Ranch, we believe a meal is best shared.
Dining is a group experience where guests come together and build connections. It’s a moment of intention– pausing to relish each bite, engage in dialogue, and nurture genuine bonds. As you refuel and nourish your body, mealtime also serves as an opportunity for education, equipping you with tools and practices to sustain healthy eating habits beyond your stay. Each destination features a unique dining experience with elements of the local culture seamlessly infused into the program. From beach lunches and garden tours in Malibu to lakeside views in Hudson Valley and cooking demonstrations at both locations, our goal is to immerse guests in the culture and flavors of the regions our programs are in.
About Those Almonds
Yes, on our morning hikes you will receive a small handful of almonds (generally about six) with sea salt to help replenish electrolytes and fuel the body.
It’s become quite our calling card over the years, but the purpose of counting your almonds is not deprivation. This snack is meant to bring awareness to how much your body truly needs to feel full, even while performing rigorous activity. Guests are often surprised that this snack does in fact satiate them as they are eaten with undivided attention, but they are always welcome to have more!
